Concept
CROSSMARE introduces a unified, multi-domain approach to European maritime surveillance. By combining data from satellites, airborne platforms, surface vessels, underwater systems, and coastal sensors, the project creates a comprehensive maritime awareness picture. Advanced AI and enhanced interoperability, built around the EU’s Common Information Sharing Environment (CISE), enable authorities to collaborate more effectively, respond faster, and manage maritime borders with greater accuracy and security.
Methodology
CROSSMARE follows a user-driven, technology-integrated methodology designed to deliver operational impact:
- User-Centred Design – Operational needs from coast guards and border authorities guide all developments.
- Multi-Domain Integration – Space, air, surface, and underwater assets form a layered surveillance network.
- AI & Data Fusion – Cutting-edge analytics improve detection, tracking, and anomaly identification.
- Interoperable C2 & CISE – Upgraded systems ensure seamless cross-border collaboration and secure data sharing.
- Real-World Testing – Demonstrations in Italy, Lithuania, Romania, and Spain validate performance in realistic conditions.
- Ethical & Secure by Design – Privacy, GDPR compliance, and responsible AI are built into every component.
This streamlined approach ensures that CROSSMARE delivers practical, scalable, and sustainable solutions for safer European waters.
