ORBIS (Optimized Real-time maritime Border Surveillance with Intelligent satellite-drone Systems) is developing an advanced maritime surveillance framework that integrates satellite data, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and artificial intelligence to enhance border monitoring and maritime security. The project supports the detection of illegal activities, search and rescue (SAR) operations, and environmental monitoring through real-time situational awareness and intelligent decision-support tools.
AI4COPSEC
AI4COPSEC (Boosting EU Copernicus Security and Maritime Monitoring with AI and Machine Learning) leverages Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies to enhance Copernicus security services. By combining satellite imagery, AIS data, IoT sensors, and open-source intelligence (OSINT), the project delivers innovative capabilities for maritime border surveillance, anomaly detection, environmental incident monitoring, and support to search and rescue operations.
MARCONNECT
MARCONNECT (Securing Europe’s MARitime domain against threats through vessel-CONNECTed services) introduces the concept of Vessel-Connected Services (VCS), enabling commercial and civilian vessels to act as trusted contributors of maritime information. Through the secure and voluntary sharing of onboard sensor data, the project strengthens maritime situational awareness, cross-border cooperation, and threat detection, contributing to a more connected and resilient European maritime security ecosystem.
THEIA
THEIA (Enhancing Copernicus Security Services – EU Governmental Crisis Management Hub for Forced Population Displacement) leverages Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI), Machine Learning, Earth Observation data, and non-space information sources to enhance the Copernicus Security Services. The project focuses on improving the monitoring, analysis, and prediction of forced population displacement caused by conflicts, climate change, extreme weather events, and socio-economic crises. By providing advanced data fusion and decision-support capabilities, THEIA strengthens situational awareness and supports EU agencies and authorities in crisis management, border security, and humanitarian response operations.
